Louis Vuitton Exhibition

Louis Vuitton Exhibition

Happy Monday! Before I delve into the topic of today’s blog post, I thought I might share a little bit about my week. This summer is going by perfectly! I feel like I might be jinxing it a little bit (knock on wood), but I can honestly say I am having a fantastic summer. I recently started studying for the LSAT, and boy do I have a lot of work ahead of me. I’m ready for it though, so I know I will be ok in the end. I want to do well so badly, and I will put in whatever work is necessary for me to succeed. In addition to work and studying, my week was also filled with fashion, which is is just so much more fun quite frankly! For those who might have noticed, I added a new highlight to my Instagram stories specifically for fashion. Be sure to check it out, for it is among my favorite highlights on my profile. As of now, there are only a few things that primarily make up the Instagram stories in that highlight. One of them is my shopping excursion through Melrose Place from this past weekend. I decided to spend my Sunday by keeping things mellow. I started out with lunch at Joan’s on Third, a favorite among many locals. I have never had anything there that I did not like. While you are there, be sure to get a brownie. They’re among the best I’ve ever had! After a quick bite, I spent the majority of my afternoon walking around Melrose Place, one of LA’s most famous streets (and a personal favorite of mine). In general, Melrose Place consists primarily of upscale shopping along with a few restaurants and cafes. Fig and Olive sits on the corner, and Alfred also lies along the street. My old hair salon is even among the gorgeous store fronts! While many of the interior design shops and upscale fashion stores may be out of my college student budget, I love to grab a rosy black iced tea from Alfred and go through all the different stores, taking in inspiration for my own wardrobe. It was quite literally the perfect Sunday!

Continuing on with my love of fashion, I have always had a love for pretty things, including interior design, art, fashion, et cetera. It’s part of the reason I started the blog in the first place! I wanted an outlet to express those passions, for most of my day concerns economic market graphs and other things of the like. My aunt used to tell her friends that her niece was into fashion and math. She wasn’t wrong! She especially used to tell people this when I couldn’t get enough of Project Runway. I must have been around 8 years old or so at the time. However as I got older, my taste expanded, and I started to get my hands on fashion magazines. People Style Watch was my first one, and I held a subscription for a few years. Eventually, I graduated to magazines like Vogue, Marie Claire, and Harper’s Bazaar. Nowadays, I prefer to read their websites instead of the print magazines, and Pinterest and Instagram are some of the best sources of endless fashion from a countless number of creatives. However, regardless of how I get my hands on it, I have always loved to follow the trends, and my love of designer fashion runs deep.

This summer, I am an intern in Beverly Hills. One of the perks of working in Beverly Hills isn’t just the short commute (UCLA is only one neighborhood away!). One of the best parts of working in my favorite part of the city is that there are all sorts of fun events put on in the neighborhood! This summer, Louis Vuitton is holding an exhibition on Rodeo Drive. It has the same feel as a pop-up museum, but this one is for designer fashion and has a store upstairs. The exhibition lasts until September 15, and it’s on the corner of S. Santa Monica Boulevard and Rodeo Drive. It’s completely free (unless you buy something in the pop-up shop of course), and it’s an easy afternoon outing.

I decided to visit the pop-up after work one day. I work so close that I was able to walk there from the building I work in! The exhibition itself is deceptively large. You move through the exhibition room by room, each one with a different theme. One of the first rooms is full of trunks and vintage travel items. The next is a room of mirrors with different bags that are more current than vintage. Personally, I found the rooms full of digital screens for visual displays to be extremely impressive. However, my favorite room was the one full of red carpet gowns. One of the security guards could even tell I was in literal heaven and didn’t want to leave! The light pink room was lined with rows of gowns worn by A-list celebrities including Michele Williams, Taylor Swift, and Sophie Turner. I could have easily spent another twenty minutes inspecting each and every gorgeous design in the relatively small room!

Regardless of how I experience fashion, this Louis Vuitton exhibition was remarkably impressive. I was absolutely stunned by how well-done this pop-up is. It is completely worth a visit while it’s here, especially if you love fashion in the same way I do. The pop-up also has a bit of a museum feel to it that reminded me of the exhibit of the Inauguration dresses for all of the First Ladies at the Smithsonian in DC. I may not be an avid purchaser of designer fashion (not yet at least), but I love participating in designer style in any way I can in the mean time.

xx
