LIT Method

You may think “lit” is just millennial slang for describing last night’s party, but at LIT Method, it’s an acronym for “low impact training.” Where their motto is “We build you. We don’t break you,” LIT Method is dedicated to using rowing machines, resistance bands, and TRX bands to make you stronger. No weights. No running. Just bring yourself, and they have everything you need.

I first got into LIT Method after seeing them on Instagram. I was intrigued by the concept of strength training without weights. Growing up, I was a competitive Irish dancer, and I have accumulated a number of injuries over the years. My mom and roommates love to joke about how you can hear my feet cracking as I walk around the corner or down the stairs. They aren’t wrong! I have put my body through a lot, but I still enjoy a tough work out. I like to get sweaty and be sore the next day. When I heard about LIT Method, I was attracted to the concept of getting stronger with less risk of injury. I do not need to add one more physical ailment to my growing list of problems!

When you register for a class, you choose a station. Your station includes a rowing machine, yoga mat, TRX bands, and a variety of resistance bands. Some of those resistance bands are attached to the wall above you, one of them is anchored to the floor, and there are two resistance bands at your station that you can put around your ankles or above your knees. They are killer for squats! Throughout the class, you will move back and forth between the rowing machine and your mat. I promise your instructor will make you sweat! You do all sorts of exercises from squats, rows, and battle ropes, and all of it will make you so sore. LIT Method also offers a variety of different classes. Each class is essentially the same, but the focus changes. Each day of the week has a different emphasis. Monday has an upper body focus, Tuesday and Thursday focus on core, Wednesday has a lower body focus, and the other days of the week are their Signature LIT class. You could go every day, and work out a different part of your body! You will be ready for summer in no time.

I’m in good shape, and I felt good after my first class. However, the next morning I had never been so sore. That was the moment I realized that those resistance bands did more than I thought. Physical results don’t appear over night, so I was more motivated than ever to buy more classes and get back into the studio. I have been going to LIT Method since December, and I have definitely noticed a difference in my overall strength and the physique of my upper body. I always burn at least 500 calories per class, and I am gradually noticing a difference in the way I look. I still go to yoga and SoulCycle, but this is a great addition to my workout routine that has probably given me the most significant results.

So, are you ready to get LIT?

xx
