Even though I would certainly consider myself to be a rule follower, I firmly believe that some rules, such as not wearing white after Labor Day, go beyond simply being arbitrary and are just ridiculous. This week on the blog, I’m breaking one of fashion’s most notorious rules for the fall season and showing how you most definitely can wear white after Labor Day.
I have been on the lookout for a pair of white jeans for a while now. I definitely knew it was something I wanted to add to my closet, especially since I am working on filling my closet with versatile basics I know I will have for years. A few months ago, I checked out the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. It is definitely one of my favorite sales of the year! I always find a few great picks, and I plan to share my favorite finds on the blog. As I was browsing the racks, I came across a full rack of white jeans on sale. I was excited because it seemed too perfect. I had been looking for the perfect pair, and there was a full rack of them on sale right in front of me! I’ve never worn TopShop jeans before, so I was a little apprehensive. I usually wear Good American because of how well they fit me. I used to wear Paige when I was in high school, but my Good American jeans seriously changed the game. What I really like about these TopShop white jeans is that they’re thick. I often find that white jeans are on the thin side, and it just doesn’t look right to me. This particular pair of jeans also has a little stretch to them, making them comfortable to wear all day.
Now that I found my perfect pair of white jeans, the real trick is learning how to incorporate them into the fall season. Styling white pants is easy for spring and summer, but that doesn’t mean that they need to be restricted to just those seasons. Perhaps the easiest way to wear your white jeans during fall is to add a cozy sweater that fits the fall color palette. I got this one from Banana Republic, and I wear it every chance I get. I also just got the same sweater in black with a different neckline. This sweater definitely makes the look a little preppy when paired with the white jeans, but more loose fitting chunky sweaters should also do the trick. I especially love ones that are a little off the shoulder.
To kick off the first fall fashion post of the season, I suppose it might be a good idea to start putting this past summer behind me. It’s been a long summer to say the least. Now that the LSAT is behind me (for the time being at least) and my senior year of college starts this week, it truly feels like the first few days of fall, even though the weather is still latching on for the last days of summer heat. Because classes start this week, everyone is starting to come back to town. I am honestly a little impatient to return to the routine of the school year, but I also don’t want this school year to go too fast. Ultimately, all these things are happening when they’re supposed to. It’s just that change is uncomfortable, but I suppose I will have to get used to it.
