Pumpkin Patch

Pumpkin Patch

One of my favorite pass times is finding little ways to decorate my apartment. In general, I enjoy decorating because there is just something so satisfying about making a space look pretty. Throughout the year, I keep flowers in the vases and a candle on my nightstand. However as different holidays approach, I enjoy keeping an eye out for themed items to sprinkle throughout my apartment. With the fall season in full swing and Halloween quickly approaching, it was time to pick out some pumpkins. Pumpkins are one of the best ways to decorate for Halloween and the fall season. Whether or not you choose to carve your pumpkin, they add a distinctly warm fall-touch to your space. The best part is that pumpkins are fun to shop for because it means you get to go on a little outing to the pumpkin patch!

I am the first to admit that I am often guilty of picking up my pumpkin at the grocery store because it is just so convenient to pick one up on your way out of the market. However, I decided that I wanted to go to an actual pumpkin patch this year. It is on my bucket list of fall activities, and I have not been to one in years. I have such great memories of picking out a pumpkin with my dad to carve for Halloween. We are both meticulous planners and took our pumpkin carving very seriously!

My visit to the pumpkin patch this year was a little different than my previous visits. Growing up, I always remembered having to wear a sweatshirt because the weather was usually overcast and chilly. However, Los Angeles hit a high of 90 degrees on the day we went. I am not entirely sure Los Angeles got the memo that it is the end of October. We are known for our warm weather year-round, but I certainly was not expecting it to get this hot so late in the month. Because of the heat, I did not get to don the cute sweater and boots combo I had planned. Instead, I opted for my go-to pair of jeans with a black bell-sleeved crop top (similar linked here). I paired this look with a rustic brown belt I have had for years (similar linked here) and my Ellen Degeneres flats. Although this outfit is mostly comprised of basics that everyone should have in their closet, I adore this effortless, classic look. In my summery-fall outfit, my friend Olivia joined me on a Friday afternoon for a trip to Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch in Culver City.

Mr. Bones is a classic pumpkin patch right in the heart of Los Angeles. Worth every second we spent in Friday afternoon traffic, Olivia and I had the best time exploring the grounds, taking pictures, and picking out the perfect pumpkin. Upon our arrival, we saw a huge spread of pumpkins lying in neat rows and small piles of nearly every size, shape, and color. I love the quintessential round orange pumpkin, but I found the lumpy ones oddly charming as well. My favorite part of the whole pumpkin patch was the pumpkin-themed art installations that were the focal point of the grounds. I particularly loved the house made of pumpkins, but there were other fun features there as well, including a tapestry, other pumpkin-themed architecture, and a step and repeat banner. Mr. Bones also features fun attractions for children, such as a petting zoo and slides.

Toward the end of our visit, I spotted a pumpkin lying on the ground right in front of me, and I knew it was going to be my pumpkin for this year. I do not plan on carving it, but I plan on making it the focal point of my living room. Right now, my plump orange pumpkin sits between the fireplace and the TV stand. I think it looks a little lonely, so I might add some other pumpkins of varying sizes and colors to keep it company and round out the fall décor. Maybe I’ll even add some cinnamon pinecones to the mix! Days like these truly are the best part of the fall season, and I look forward to checking off more adventures from my fall bucket list.

xx
