It may be nearing the end of September, but the weather in LA definitely still feels like summer. I have been soaking up every second of the beautiful summery weather we have been having here! It has been hovering in the high 70s to 80s this week, and I have been wearing some of my favorite pieces to celebrate. Among my favorite little dresses that get endless use during the summer, I have decided to add this midi skirt to my summer wardrobe. I picked up this piece at Anthropologie when I went home to Orange County earlier in June. I had seen a bunch of girls on Pinterest wearing skirts in this longer length for the summer, and I was eager to try the style for myself. Typically, I favor shorter hemlines because I like how they’re fun and youthful. However, the midi skirt length made me feel like I had immediately been transported to Nice or Monaco, which are definitely earning higher spots on my bucket list! This skirt gives an easy yet sophisticated impression, and I found myself wearing it to just everything this summer!
I paired this skirt with a white body suit. I am a little obsessed with them in all honesty! You don’t have to deal with the annoying hassle of tucking in your top and then having it bunch at your waistband. It is one of my fashion pet peeves, and bodysuits are the perfect fix! I picked this one up from Nordstrom earlier in the spring. What sealed the deal for me was that I couldn’t see through the white fabric. Too often, I find that white t-shirts and tank tops are a shade too shear. Don’t get me wrong. A little transparency can keep it fun! I just don’t think that white is the color to do that with, so I prefer to keep my whites on the opaque side. However, my favorite detail about this look has got to be the shoes! I have been wearing these Soludo wedges on repeat all summer! They are perfect with everything from jeans to sundresses. My cousin gave me the sweetest compliment on them at a family party a few months ago, and agreed that I will get plenty of use out of them.
While this skirt is perfect for a summer BBQ or date night, I was particularly looking forward to wearing this look to my friend’s baby shower. I felt that it was the cutest look for a baby girl’s shower! Unfortunately a massive schedule change on my end meant that I was unable to attend, but I cannot wait to visit after the baby is born! I am very proud of the gift I got her too. I picked out the softest pink blanket from her registry and got the baby’s name embroidered on it. I think this is something I will keep doing as more of my friends start having kids. I love how personal it is, and I sincerely hope she loves it. Most recently, I wore this ensemble to lunch with an old family friend. We met all the way back in kindergarten! I decided I wanted to take her to Zinqué on Melrose for lunch, one of my favorite spots in LA. The French restaurant has the cutest little patio and absolutely amazing food. I highly recommend the Niçoise tartine and tomato basil mozarella panini.
It’s crazy to think that October is slowly approaching. I feel like August came and went in the blink of an eye, and September is coming to a quick end after a slower start. As much as I usually look forward to the fall season, I am definitely not ready to say goodbye to the summer weather. This past winter in LA was longer and colder than usual, and I don’t want to trade in my skirts and mini dresses for boots and sweaters just yet. Fortunately, the summer weather is still here. September usually feels like our hottest month, and October still packs some high temps. I don’t have to jump into fall just yet, so be ready for more warm weather looks and transition styles to bring you into the next season!
