I’m pretty sure leather never goes out of style. Leather bags, leather jackets, and leather skirts are all timeless, chic, and versatile. However, it isn’t the stretchiest material, which is why I have always been hesitant to look at leather pants, for I have muscular legs from over a decade of competitive Irish dance. However, this post is all about leather pants, which means I solved one of my fashion problems! If you are wondering what my solution is, it’s faux leather yoga pants, and I got the idea from Kathryn Dennis from Southern Charm. Although I don’t like to admit it, I am an avid lover of reality television. I find it to be an entertaining escape from my own, much more ordinary life. During the reunion for Southern Charm’s most recent season, Andy Cohen asked Kathryn a question about her fashion, specifically regarding how she wore leather pants for a great deal of the season. She said her secret was that they are actually yoga pants from Amazon, noting their inexpensive price tag. Intrigued by the idea, I hopped on Amazon and began a search for these pants because I wanted in on the secret.
On Amazon, they are $30 for a single pair, or $37.99 for a pack of two. I only got the one pair because I didn’t even know what I would think of them quite yet. However, I have been very happy with them and will surely buy a pack of two when mine wear out. Although they are certainly stretchy like yoga pants, they aren’t quite as stretchy as your favorite pair of Lululemons, so either get your proper size or maybe size up. These pants give you the comfort of a yoga pant with the dressy-ness of leather pants. My immediate thought was that they would be perfect for a concert or a night out, which is exactly what I did with them.
I didn’t get out a whole lot this summer because of all my time studying for the LSAT and most of my friends being away for their summer internships. Don’t get me wrong. I still got out into the city. It’s just that I never quite got the perfect opportunity to take these pants out on the town. However, I had bought tickets for the Jonas Brothers concert at the Hollywood Bowl months ago, and decided this would by my pants’ debut! While I had loads of fun at the concert, these pants were a little finicky to style. Perhaps I should have bought them one size down because they were awfully baggy in the crotch, which is just unattractive quite frankly. I decided to wear a long slinky tank top to hide their only downfall.
Leather pants aside, I have gushed about my love for the Hollywood Bowl before. It really is one of my favorite venues in the city. You can see the Hollywood sign from your seat, and it’s just the best when a warm breeze blows through the bowl in the middle of the set. Last night, I saw the Jonas Brothers play for their Happiness Begins tour. I had the best time! I was a massive Jonas Brothers fan when I was a kid, and I jumped at the opportunity to see them play when the band got back together. Half the concert was from their new album, and the other half consisted of classics. After all, it had been years since they toured, so the fans were due for some of their old hits too! I laughed, I danced, and I even cried a little when they played “When You Look Me in the Eyes.” That one will always be my favorite, and I am so happy that I was able to see them play live. They truly are amazing performers, and the fireworks throughout the show really topped off the already fun experience. I posted plenty to my Instagram stories if you want to see my videos from the show. I also saved them to my “LA II” highlight for safekeeping. I keep going back and watching my videos because of how much fun I had. Now, it’s back to midterms. While I do not have any more exciting concerts on the calendar, I will be looking forward to any upcoming shows I find myself at, and perhaps I will wear my new trusty leather pants!
